Finding the Perfect Wedding Venue

My October Bride is just starting out with like, everything. First stop: Wedding venues. Which can be kind of frustrating! All of my brides have a very specific idea of where they want their wedding to look like, they just don’t know where or how to start looking. I usually give them three venue options at a time, so they can pick the ones they like, and then I can make their appointments for them, according to their schedule. It’s an exclusive concierge experience that brides get used to really quickly! With all the stuff they have to do in their lives, they don’t have the time to call or email to find information, or follow-up and play phone tag. They tell me what they want, I give them a date that I’m going to get back to them, and my brides can just set it and forget it. And that “Christmas” moment and when they walk into their perfect venue? Rocks. How long does perfection take to find? About 4-6 weeks.
OctBride is way ahead of the game – she knows exactly where she wants her wedding, and we’re going to see it tonight. The Huron Substation is this great venue downtown, very hipster, all exposed brick and wood, garden ceremony, string lights outside at night. If you’ve lusted after the Marvimon but it’s out of your price range, Huron might just work for you.
But even with or without a wedding planner, the time it takes to find the place for you can get frustrating. Just stay practical and organized. One way is to figure out a schedule to see these places before you approach them. Is it close enough for you to go after work? Do you have time on the weekends? Emailing or calling with days you can come by will cut down on the back and forth. And if you’re concerned about your budget, remember that your venue and reception costs are going to take about half of that, so whatever you spend on the venue means you have x amount left in that half for catering.
How long did it take you to find your wedding venue and how many places did you look at ? Or do you have any questions about where to look? Let me know in the comments for a chance to win a ticket to the Unique L.A. Independent Design Gift Show on Saturday. It’s like Etsy.com live, basically, DIY you can buy Nirvana. And I am ALL about the DIY you can buy.
See you at the end of the aisle,
