Wedding Wise Wednesday – April 28th
Posted: April 28, 2010
Every Wednesday, I give you the coolest wedding stories, deals in events that I’ve found in Los Angeles and around the web. And we call it Wedding Wise Wednesday. Welcome!
First of all, my Cool Wedding Idea Contest is still open, so ENTER, either in the comments below, or in the comments in Monday’s post. Maria wants to do a Mad Men themed wedding, and I CAN’T believe she’s the only one who’s entered so far. Britt over at Broke Ass Bride wants lots and lots of shots, so she bought lots and lots of shot glasses. What’s going to make your wedding YOUR wedding? I wanna know and I want to help! $25 itunes gift card! DO IT!
The Stories:
Speaking of out of the box wedding ideas, I LOVE this guest post by Liz(no relation) on A Practical Wedding, on how she pulled together a self-catered formal dessert reception for her wedding. Really great story, LOTS of great tips, AWESOME pictures (like this one) by Love Me Do Photography in Philadelphia. Enjoy.
In a similar vein (Taxes were due just last week, after all), Lidia over at Wedding Chicks has a post on Getting Married Without Going Broke. A lot of them are suggestions I make to my own clients, and I’m definitely adding a couple to the arsenal, like saving postage by making postcard RSVPS and recycling leftover invite materials by using them for the reception. Oh, and getting your bridesmaid dresses online? I did that myself, since they were scattered all over the country. It works.
And speaking of things that, once you see them, you wonder why no one else has thought of it, Kathy Jo of Kathy Jo Weddings in Orange County also now owns Raise The Cake. Raise the Cake? Offers a collection of beautiful cake stands, OR you can customize your own. Stands from the collection range from $60-240 (the one pictured is on the lower end of that) and custom cake or cupcake stands start at $250. Thanks to Tick Tock Florals for the heads up.
The Deals:
Recycled Bride has gotten together with Your Dream Dress to offer 15% off new Designer Wedding dresses, including Vera Wang and Reem Acra. Start at Recycled Bride to find out how it works.
Dream Green Wedding is having a sale on their eco friendly wedding favors – prices are as low as .99, AND there’s free shipping for orders over $150.
